Now this is a nice surprise. The long in gestation plan to bring Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast books to the screen again looks to have got somewhere, with news of a new television project.
Neil Gaiman, who was earlier trying to get a film adaptation made, is now attached to the new TV plan. He’s set to produce the new show, along with Akiva Goldsman (screenwriter of everything from A Beautiful Mind through to Batman & Robin).
FreemantleMedia North America is backing the adaptation, although it isn’t yet clear which networks will play host to it. It will be a fresh take on the Gormenghast books, that were previously adapted by the BBC back in 2000 (pictured).
More on the new take as we hear it.
