Netflix has announced that it would be releasing 1,000 hours original shows in the coming year 2017.
It will take you 41 days to watch the full packed entertainment. Netflix releases the complete show in a day instead of weekly episodes, and if you are a binge-watcher of TV shows and films, chances are you’re already a Netflix subscriber. Netflix is great in the UK, thanks to the great content such as House of Cards, Stranger Things and Luke Cage – but there is more on offer in the US.
When it comes to streaming TV shows and films, Netflix is the first choice for users. Thanks to the original and exclusive Netflix content such as Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Black Mirror and House of Cards – but it’s even bigger and better in the US.
In January 2016, Netflix announced at CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas, that it is starting its services across 130 countries. According to the survey in February 2016, American Netflix has 5750 overall titles including TV shows and films, while the UK has only 2028 titles on offer.
If you want to access US content while in the UK, there’s a way to access US Netflix using a VPN that still works with Netflix even after its breakdown on VPNs. It included people who were using UK VPN for other privacy and other end-to-end encryption matters which was overlooked by Netflix and made it into a difficult situation.
Is it legal to access US Netflix from the UK?
Accessing different variants of Netflix from different regions is more like a gray area. Because it is not technically illegal to stream Netflix content using a UK VPN as you’ve paid for the service, and if you move to the US you’d be legally entitled to access US Netflix content. The Netflix’s regional licensing agreement is muddy in international waters.
As we’re yet to see any out-of-region legal disputes over streaming, but it is certainly a dubious territory. While Netflix started its clamping down on VPNs earlier this year, this step seemed to appease publishers concerned for regional licensing.
Netflix’s breakdown on VPNs
For years, Netflix turned blind eyes and was neutral on extra-territorial streaming and VPNs as its global number of subscribers outgrew. However, the last year 2015, Netflix updated its terms-and-conditions and explicitly stated that out-of-region streaming on a VPN is no longer supported, and it may terminate or restrict the use of service without notice or compensation if it suspected that users are in violation of any breach of these terms of use.
It seems this step has taken because of the concerns and vague threats from the publishers that they would pull their content from the service if Netflix fails to resolve the matter, and so far Netflix is winning in this battle as there are very few VPN services available that are unblocked, so find one and watch those exclusive content and the upcoming 41 days full packed entertainment.
