BBC One announced the commission of a brand new drama from Kay Mellor last month, titled Love, Lies and Records.
Set in Leeds, the six-part series will follow Registrar Kate Dickinson as she tries to juggle her personal life with the daily dramas of births, marriages and deaths and the impact they have on her.
Writer Kay Mellor (The Syndicate, Band of Gold, Fat Friends) commented: “Of course I’d love to do another series of In the Club and The Syndicate but they are on hold for now. It’s lovely to be working on a fresh idea and I’ve got all the support from the BBC. They seem to trust me to just get on with it and then will dive in with a brilliant note or thought.”
In the Club star Christine Bottomley, who plays Vicky, exclusively told CultBox in June: “I think we’d all be very interested in bringing [the characters] back [for a third season] and seeing what happens with these women.”
She added: “It would be nice if Vicky found a bit of new love or something that would be nice. Somebody to wine her and dine her a bit, I think she deserves that! Or maybe a win at the lottery? Maybe we could combine The Syndicate and In the Club? And then possibly shoot in the Bahamas or something – that’d be great!”
