Titans star Alan Ritchson is Amazon’s Jack Reacher…
Amazon is pressing ahead with its small screen Jack Reacher series, adapting the massively popular books by Lee Child, and the first season of this new TV series will focus on the first Reacher novel, The Killing Floor.
We’ve long been wondering who will be the TV version of Jack Reacher! Well, we need wonder no more, as Alan Ritchson has now been revealed as the star of the show. The 6’4 star of DC Universe’s Titans is certainly a good fit for the role, but there’s no further details on when he and the crew will start filming the Jack Reacher series yet.
Scorpion creator Nick Santora will be running the first season for Amazon.
“Lee Child has created an incredible character and world,” said Santora. “It will be the goal of every writer, producer, actor, executive and crew member to capture the essence of Mr. Child’s books — and luckily Lee has been there, and will continue to be there, to help guide us along the way in this series. He is the pulse of Reacher.”
Child noted that many fans had previously pointed out that Tom Cruise – who played the role in two big screen Jack Reacher features – was significantly smaller than Reacher in terms of height. In an interview with BBC Radio Manchester, Child said this about his plans for the character in live action:
“I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun. But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.”
They’ve clearly gone the right way with Ritchson, then!
“Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series is a global phenomenon with one of entertainment’s most well-known heroes, and a perfect fit for Amazon Studios’ slate of bold, character-driven series,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said of the project. “We look forward to expanding the Jack Reacher universe and bringing more thrilling action to our Amazon Prime Video audience.”
