In sitcom circles, Martin Clunes has never scored a bigger hit than the phenomenon that was Men Behaving Badly. And whilst he’s been enjoying success more recently in Doc Martin, he’s heading back to comedy, for a brand new BBC One sitcom.
It’s called Warren, and Clunes will be playing the title character. Warren is described as a pedantic driving instructor, convinced the world is again him. The programme has been penned by Paul McKenna (not that one) and Jimmy Donny Cosgrove, and will see Warren forced to relocate up north.
As Clunes admits in the press notes, “I had kind of told myself that I didn’t want to do another sitcom, but because this came from Hat Trick I thought it was worth a read and the script is just so funny that I didn’t want anyone else to do it”.
There’s no transmission date as of yet, short of to say that Warren is “coming soon”. Further casting is set to be announced shortly.
