Ncuti Gatwa will begin filming the next full series of Doctor Who this November according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This concurs with crew job listings posted by Bad Wolf, the production company filming Doctor Who, in February and March of 2022.
Both postings list job opportunities for production which occurs May to July of 2022, takes a break, then resumes in November of 22 and continues into June of 2023.
On August 1, Gatwa posted a video story on his Instagram of himself in a hair salon with a shaved upper lip with the caption, “I MISS MY MOUSTACHE” in which he was heard joking “Where is my lip? I hate you Eric Effiong.” The natural conclusion to take from this is that he was about to commence filming to reprise his role as Eric in the fourth season of Sex Education. The Hollywood Reporter also reports that Sex Education is currently shooting.
The summer break which apparently Doctor Who production is currently experiencing will end in November when Sex Education filming has wrapped and Gatwa is free to film the next series of Doctor Who which will likely air in 2024.
The Hollywood Reporter also states that it’s likely that Gatwa has already filmed some footage for the 60th Anniversary, thought to consist of at least three specials. Some of that footage will likely contain a regeneration scene.
