The BFI has announced the finalists vying to be named as the UK’s favourite sci-fi character of all time.
The poll was launched in August as part of the BFI’s major nationwide celebration of sci-fi on screen.
The two front runners have been revealed as the Alien‘s Ellen Ripley and Doctor Who‘s Doctor.
The pair beat off competition from the likes of Han Solo from Star Wars, Firefly‘s Captain Malcolm Reynolds, Blade Runner‘s Rick Deckard, 2001: A Space Odyssey‘s HAL 9000 and Star Trek‘s Spock.
The vote reopens today and voting closes at midnight on Monday 15 December. Fans can also vote on Twitter using the hashtag #BFISciFi and then adding either #VoteDoctor and #VoteRipley.
The final result will be revealed on Wednesday 17 December.
