Varada Sethu made a surprise debut appearance in Boom, the third episode of the 2024 series of Doctor Who.

In Boom, Sethu portrays an ordained Anglican marine named Mundy Flynn, who comes across the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) in peril on a battlefield the planet Kastarion 3.

She was previously announced as starring in the the 2025 Doctor Who series, still in production, alongside Gatwa and Gibson.

Sethu was spotted filming 2025 series scenes Doctor Who with Ncuti Gatwa in Penarth Wales and Leominster Herefordshire in January 2024.

How the Doctor will meet again with Mundy Flynn or team up with another character played by Sethu remains a mystery but the Doctor did say to Mundy, “I will be popping in, every now and then,” so he does have plans to see her again.

The next episode of Doctor Who, 73 Yards, will stream on 25 May 2024 midnight, 00:00 BST (24 May 7:00pm ET) streaming on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ and will broadcast on BBC One in the UK and Ireland on 25 May at 6:50pm. On subsequent Saturdays, the remaining episodes will stream on iPlayer and Disney+ at 00:00 BST and will broadcast in the evening on BBC One.
