The star of Hamilton and In The Heights is set to join the MCU.
Thanks to Deadline, news has broken that Anthony Ramos will join the cast of their upcoming show Ironheart.
Ramos is best known for his musical roles; he played the dual role of Philip Hamilton/John Laurens in the cultural phenomenon that is Hamilton, and also starred as Usnavi, the lead character of In The Heights.
In non-musical roles, he appeared as Ramon in A Star is Born and appears in the upcoming Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
There’s not much yet known about Ironheart, save from the basic premise: The story centers on Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), a young genius inventor who builds the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. The show is to be scripted by Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) and will run for six episodes. The character of Riri Williams is expected to debut in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie, before spinning into the small screen Ironheart.
What role Anthony Ramos will play in the story is as yet uncertain. Given his profile, we imagine the character might not remain content in a single corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
So early in the production cycle, there’s naturally no suggestion of when Ironheart might air. Although it was treated to a smart logo for 2021’s Disney+ Day.
In terms of MCU television series, it’s behind Ms Marvel, She-Hulk and Secret Invasion in the queue… and perhaps a couple of others!
Naturally, we’ll keep you posted.
