Apple TV+ has released some startling beautiful images from upcoming Stephen King series Lisey’s Story

As well as Julianne Moore (pictured), Lisey’s Story also stars Clive Owen and Ron Cephas Jones. King himself wrote the scripts for every episode of the story, which follows Lisey Landon (Moore) two years after the death of her husband, famous novelist Scott Landon (Owen). A series of unsettling events causes Lisey to face memories of her marriage to Scott that she has deliberately blocked out of her mind…

The Empire synopsis is nice and circumspect (and they have some other images as well), but as it’s Stephen King, there’s more to it. A lot more. King spoke to Vanity Fair and they have more to say about the plot [spoilers if you’ve not read the book]:

…a passageway into a parallel dimension that helped him tap uncanny creative energies. His secret was only shared with her, although she struggled to understand it when he was alive. Now that Scott has passed away, there are outsiders willing to do anything to gain access to the unpublished materials he left behind, even if it means destroying the woman who meant everything to him…

It’s worth having a look at the Vanity Fair piece as King goes into just how autobiographical the original story was. Let’s not forget King appears in one of his Gunslinger novels as himself, so is no stranger to self-reference!

Lisey’s Story comes to Apple TV+ on June 4.
