Updated 06/02/23: Ahead of the show’s March premiere, Apple TV+ have dropped a trailer for Manhunt.
In the promo, we meet Lincoln’s assassin John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle), as he plots and then executes his plan. Then, as the hunt for him begins, a conspiracy begins to unfold…
Apple TV+ describes the show as “Part historical fiction, part conspiracy thriller” and say it “… delves into the aftermath of the first American presidential assassination—and the fight to preserve and protect the ideals that were the foundation of Lincoln’s Reconstruction plan.”
Manhunt launches on Apple TV+ on Friday March 15th, 2024 with a double premiere. The remaining five episodes will land weekly.

Manhunt – Apple TV+ reveals first look at Lincoln true-crime series
Drawn from the bestselling book by James L. Swanson, Manhunt is a conspiracy thriller which surrounds one of the best known but least understood crimes in history. It’s the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
Tobias Menzies plays Edwin Stanton, Lincoln’s Minister of War who led the chase to capture the President’s assassin.
Joining Tobias Menzies (The Crown), the cast includes Anthony Boyle, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison, Brandon Flynn, Damian O’Hare, Glenn Morshower, Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh and Hamish Linklater.
Manhunt‘s creator is Monica Beletsky (Fargo, The Leftovers) show serves as showrunner and executive producer. Carl Franklin (Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) directs the first two episodes.
Manhunt comes from Apple Studios and is co-produced by Lionsgate Television, in association with POV Entertainment, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Dovetale Productions and Monarch Pictures.
Beletsky, Franklin, Layne Eskridge and Kate Barry executive produce. Swanson, author of Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith and Naia Cucukov.
The 7-episode series begins at AppleTV+ with a double premiere on 15th March, 2024. Subsequent episodes will debut weekly on Fridays.
