Along with Gatwa, the University of Glasgow will recognise several honourees for their outstanding contributions in the fields of arts, politics, science and humanities during their summer and winter graduation ceremonies.

Professor Andy Schofield, principal and vice chancellor, said: “Honorary degrees give us the opportunity to recognise individuals whose achievements have had a profound and positive impact within their professions and wider society. Their work embodies values that continue to inspire our community.”

The first honorary degrees will be awarded at a special Commemoration Day ceremony on 17 June 2026 to mark the 575th anniversary of the University’s foundation.
