(Updated 06/07/22): Hot on the heels of the teaser, we now have a full trailer for Paper Girls.
For a show barely mentioned until last week, the promotional wheels are now turning furiously. On the back of the teaser trailer, Prime Video have released a full-length trailer. Across it’s just over two-minute runtime, we enjoy a better introduction to the show’s gang of four – the temporally displaced paper girls of the title.
With uneasy friendships made, we see a fuller take on the girls’ first encounter with Erin’s adult self, played by Ali Wong. Shifting from 1988 to 2019, the grown up Erin has some understandable reactions. As it progresses, the others are glimpsed seeing element of their own personal futures and we learn that the fate of humanity is at stake.
All this is backed by The Bangles and their banging 1987 cover of ‘Hazy Shade of Winter’. Could Paper Girls do for this classic 80s track what Stranger Things did for ‘Running Up That hill’?
The show also now has a smart new promo poster:
All eight episodes of Paper Girls land at Prime Video on Friday, July the 29th.

Paper Girls – Prime Video drops a teaser for their teen time-travel show
The streamer gives us a first look at their adaptation of the bestselling Paper Girls graphic novels.
Call us a bit long in the tooth, but this was a new one for CultBox. Prime Video have released images and a compelling trailer for their upcoming time-travel adaptation Paper Girls.
Written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Cliff Chiang, the original graphic novels follow four teenagers caught up in a temporal conflict.
Here’s the compelling premise:
In the early morning hours after Halloween 1988, four paper girls—Erin, Mac, Tiffany, and KJ—are out on their delivery route when they become caught in the crossfire between warring time-travellers, changing the course of their lives forever. Transported into the future, these girls must figure out a way to get back home to the past, a journey that will bring them face-to-face with the grown-up versions of themselves.
While reconciling that their futures are far different than their 12-year-old selves imagined, they are being hunted by a militant faction of time-travellers known as the Old Watch, who have outlawed time travel so that they can stay in power. In order to survive, the girls will need to overcome their differences and learn to trust each other, and themselves.
Paper Girls is billed as a “high-stakes personal journey depicted through the eyes of four girls”. The young leads are Camryn Jones, Riley Lai Nelet, Sofia Rosinsky and Fina Strazza. Additionally, Ali Wong (Love, Victor) stars, with Nate Corddry and Adina Porter.
Paper Girls comes from Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, in association with Plan B. Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4, Thor: Ragnarok) created the show for television, although she’s since stepped back from her role; co-showrunner Christopher C. Rogers has taken the reigns solo.
The season one directors are Mairzee Almas, Georgi Banks-Davies, Destiny Ekaragha, and Karen Gaviola. The series’ executive producers are Christopher C. Rogers, Stephany Folsom, Christopher Cantwell, Brian K. Vaughan, Cliff Chiang, Steven Prinz, and Plan B.
