Attracting 9.1m (38%) viewers, Series 4’s opener was slightly down on the figures for the end of the last series, but no doubt we will see that grow as the series progresses.
A number of new shows debuted this week including By Any Means on BBC One, which saw 4.1m (16.4%) viewers tune in, and BBC Two’s The Wrong Mans which had a very healthy 3.1m (13.5%) viewers on Tuesday night.
The BBC’s biggest launch this week though was undoubtedly Atlantis which kicked off with 5.6m (25.3%) viewers last night.
Staying in the world of sci-fi and fantasy, Channel 4 debuted the much-hyped Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Friday evening with 2.8m (12.6%) viewers catching the return of Agent Coulson. This was followed by the last ever episode of The IT Crowd, which rebooted for one last hurrah to the tune of 1.5m (6.6%).
It was also a good week for the round-up’s old favourites as viewers were added across the board for Doc Martin (7.3m), New Tricks (7.1m) and Whitechapel (3.2m). However, Peaky Blinders lost viewers again this week as the latest episode dazzled 1.8m viewers with an audience share of 8.4%.
