The show, from the mind of Chris O’Dowd, stars Christina Hendricks and Paddy Considine.
With filming complete, Sky have revealed first images from Small Town, Big Story.
The comedy, from Chris O’Dowd, take place in Drumbán – a small town with a big story to tell. It stars Christina Hendricks (Mad Men. The Buccaneers) and Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon).
The six-part series is about a rural town of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world, and what happens when a Hollywood production rolls into town, throwing a spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium.
With that intriguing premise, we’d say this is one to watch. However, all Sky are saying is that the show is a “warm, witty, and very dramatic comedy.”
Christina Hendricks
Wendy Patterson (Christina Hendricks) is a local girl who found success as a TV producer in Los Angeles and returns to Drumbán after over 20 years, having left under something of a cloud.
Paddy Considine
Séamus Proctor (Paddy Considine) is the local doctor and a respected pillar of the community. He has a neat and well-ordered life, or at least he thinks he does. Soon he will find himself in the eye of a storm as a celluloid circus descends, threatening to blow open a secret he has been harbouring since the Millennium.
The locals of Drumbán
Chris O’Dowd, the show’s creator and director of Small Town, Big Story said:
“I bloody love television, and am most engrossed by stories that bring the remarkable to the everyday. I hope we’ve made a beautiful show that an audience will find funny and will keep people on the edge of their seats…and beyond.”
The series was shot on location in Ireland including County Wicklow and Boyle.
Small Town, Big Story is a Playground/FilmNation Entertainment production in association with Sky Studios. Executive producers are Colin Callender & Scott Huff (Playground), Stefanie Berk & Milan Popelka (FilmNation Entertainment), and Alex Moody (Sky Studios). Plus, Christina Hendricks and Chris O’Dowd. The series producer is Liz Gill. O’Dowd also directs, with Catherine Morshead, Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman.
The series comes Sky and NOW in Autumn 2024. We’ll keep you posted.
