The Star Wars Celebration at Anaheim 2022 give us our first look at the show.

There’s bound to be plenty of Star Wars goodness streaming out of Anaheim, California in the coming days; it’s hosting the ‘Star Wars Celebration 2022’ across a long weekend.

Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase has provided a first look at Andor – the Disney+ prequel series to Rogue One. They’ve also confirmed the show’s launch date as Wednesday, the 31st of August 2022.

Set some five years before the film, itself a feeder into A New Hope, the show will chronicle the sci-spy-fi adventures of Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor.

“People are standing up. That’s what a reckoning sounds like.”

The teaser is wide in scope, showing us a universe under the Imperial thumb. And yet, we also get a sense that everyone from villagers to factory workers are ready to take up arms and throw off their oppressors.

As well as Diego Luna, we also get a look at Genevieve O’Reilly who returns as the rebel leader Mon Mothma. Additionally, the announcement on StarWars.com confirms that Stellan Skarsgard, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller are also in the cast.

We also know that Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Adria Arjona (Good Omens), Robert Emms (Atlantis) will appear – and we’re expecting Forest Whitaker reprise his role as Saw Gerrera. There’s no news on Alan Tudyk’s droid K2S0 though (fingers crossed!)

For more information on the show, Vanity Fair recently ran a fantastic piece with showrunner Tony Gilroy and Diego Luna.

In addition to the teaser trailer, Andor has also gained a fetching poster too:

Andor runs for 12 episodes and launches on the 31st of August 2022, with its first two episodes.

Oh, and it’s already scored a recommission too – season two goes into production in the autumn.
