Star Wars: The Acolyte – premiere date announced, trailer imminent

It’s been a while since we last saw a new live action Star Wars series on Disney+. With the pipeline slowed by various factors, the last was Ahsoka which concluded in October 2023. Now it’s been announced that The Acolyte will premiere on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024.

While Ahsoka, and the forthcoming Skeleton Crew, happen in the post-Return of the Jedi period, the newest series takes place during the time of The High Republic.

For the initiated, it’s the era of the Star Wars timeline where the Jedi were at their prime and it’s been explored so far in books, comics and audio dramas. Centuries prior to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, it should be unlike anything we’re seen before.

Joining Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games) and Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), the cast includes Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

Leslye Headland executive produces alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers; Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Rob Bredow, and Eileen Shim are producing.
