There’s an extended trailer for Stargirl season 2, and as expected we see Jade (The Green Lantern’s daughter) in action — fighting Stargirl!

If you’ve been paying attention to Stargirl news, you’ll know season 2 sees the arrival of Jade, daughter of The Green Lantern. Of course, expectation is one thing, seeing her in the trailer is another. But why is she fighting our hero?

If you don’t know, Stargirl is:

…the story of high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines DC’s Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series…

The cast includes: Brec Bassinger as Stargirl herself, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Cameron Gellman, Trae Romano, Jake Austin Walker, Hunter Sansone, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson and Christopher James Baker. Newcomer Jade is played by Ysa Penarejo.

The trailer shows a mix of characters as well as plenty of high school settings, most focussing on the new girl. The fight between Courtney and Jade looks to us like it may be down to lack of knowing each other’s secret identities, and we fully expect them to end up on the same side by the end of the season, given the assumption Jade is a hero like her father.
