Picard Season 3, the show’s final hurrah, begins in February 2023.
Back in April, the announcement of the returning cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation for Picard’s third and final season caused ripples of excitement.
Across the first two seasons, Patrick Stewart’s Admiral Jean-Luc Picard has already caught up with Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Troi (Marina Sirtis) and various iterations of Data (Brent Spiner) and his family.
Picard Season 3 adds the remaining ST:TNG principal cast; Gates McFadden (Dr Crusher), Michael Dorn (Worf) and LeVar Burton (La Forge). Remaining Picard regulars Jeri Ryan (former Voyager crew member Seven of Nine) and Michelle Hurd (Raffi) will also star.
We enjoyed a brief teaser for these returnees at the San Diego Comic Con and also learned recently that Denise Crosby’s Tasha Yar will be seen in some fashion. Perhaps a cameo along the same lines as Wil Wheaton’s Wesley Crusher.
Now, thanks to Paramount+’s Star Trek Day celebration, we have a fuller 90 second ‘sneak Peek’ trailer:
It seems a desperate message from Dr Crusher will be the impetus to get the band back together. That and the destruction of a Star Fleet facility.
We see Picard and Riker reunite, then board the USS Titan – Riker’s former ship – under Seven of Nine’s command.
There’s also a launch date: Picard Season 3 will begin on February 16th, 2023.
With such a long lead time, as seasons 2 and 3 filmed back-to-back, there’s doubtless be plenty more promotion to come. We’ll keep you posted.
