The as yet untitled film will star Anna Friel, David Threlfall and Anna Maxwell Martin.
The BBC have announced a new film from the acclaimed dramatist Jimmy McGovern.
Currently without a title, the 90-minute film will take place in Liverpool and centre on a family dealing with the fallout of an abuse incident.
Here’s the official line from the press release:
“Set and filmed in Liverpool, the fictional drama centres around the Mitchell family who are dealing with the devastating aftermath of an act of abuse, and the knowledge that it was perpetrated by a member of their own family who, after serving his sentence, has just been released from prison.”
The production has an impressive headline cast led by Anna Friel (Marcella). Bobby Schofield (SAS Rogue Heroes), Anna Maxwell Martin (Motherland), David Threlfall (Nightsleeper) and Mark Womack (The Responder) also star. Further casting will be announced in due course.
The director is Julia Ford (Showtrial) and the drama comes from LA Productions for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Jimmy McGovern has a long history of high-profile drama shows, most recently creating the impactful prison drama Time for the BBC. With LA Productions, he’s collaborated on recent single drama projects including Common, Care, Reg and Anthony.
