Disney+ has confirmed new series The Book of Boba Fett will be coming in 2021
You might be excused for not knowing all the details of every new Star Wars show recently announced by Disney (including their huge investor’s day reveal) but if you watched the final episode of The Mandalorian, there was a strong post-credit ‘hint’. The official announcement on StarWars.com explains why:
Boba Fett made his big-screen debut in 1980s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, becoming an instant fan favorite thanks to his visually arresting armor and cool demeanor. Jeremy Bulloch, the original actor inside the armor, passed away last week — but his legacy, including all he brought to Boba Fett, goes on. The Book of Boba Fett will carry that legacy forward.
So far all we know for certain is The Book of Boba Fett will be set within the same timeline as The Mandalorian. Temuera Morrison (Tatau) will play the infamous bounty hunter, with Ming0na Wen as elite assassin Fennec Shand.
If you’d like to know about Temuera Morrison’s take on Boba Fett, there’s a good interview with him here on StarWars.com. For some of us older writers at Cultbox who saw The Empire Strikes Back when it was new to cinema, part of the appeal of the character was how little we knew about him compared to how much everyone on screen seemed to know. It made him mysterious and unpredictable. We hope some of this mystery remains despite the new series. The Book of Boba Fett is planned for Disney+ in December 2021.
