It’s been quiet on The Boys front for a while, but Season 3 launches in June.
We’ve not heard that much from The Boys since the Season 3 promos began in March with a gloriously NSFW teaser. With the premiere now just weeks away, Prime Video have dropped an almighty trailer to let us know what to expect from the new run.
As ever, this isn’t one to run in front of the kids, your boss or those of a nervous disposition!
“It’s time to level the f***ing playing field”
And so, this trailer doubles down on Homelander (Antony Starr) and his increasingly erratic behaviour post-Stormfront. There’s also the suggestion of a rebalancing of super powers within society, with Vought supremo Mr Edgar explaining his strategy for maintaining control to Starlight (Erin Moriarty).
Of course, that’s before we learn of Billy Butcher’s latest anti-supe strategy, which involves taking a trip to the dark side, whereupon we descend into the expected depths of bloody violence and gore. As he lets loose, there’s also plenty of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), seen beating someone to a bloody pulp. All this set to the strains of the classic Beach Boys track ‘Heroes and Villains’.
The Boys Season 3 art
The release of this trailer comes with some splendid art too. Here’s the season’s classy promo poster:
The show’s returning cast are Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie and Claudia Doumit. Joining the show for season 3 are Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles, playing Soldier Boy.
The upcoming storylines are expected to include a reality show to fill open slots on the Seven and the infamous Herogasm. Look it up if you dare!
The Boys are back (in town) on Prime Video on the 3rd of June 2022. Three episodes on that date, with subsequent installments weekly, concluding on Friday, the 8th of July.
