The BBC have announced a new crime drama, The Capture, which is set to star Holliday Grainger and Fantastic Beasts‘ Callum Turner.
Grainger, known for her role on Strike, will play Rachel Carey, a detective inspector sent in to investigate the case of ex-British soldier, Shaun Emery (played by Turner) recently accused of murder in Afghanistan. After the initial investigation is abandoned due to flawed evidence, CCTV footage regarding an incident with Emery in London causes the case to be reopened.
According to the press release “The Capture looks at a troubling world of misinformation, fake news, and the extraordinary technological capabilities of the intelligence services. In the post-truth era and when criminal justice relies so heavily on video evidence, can we always believe what we see?”
It’s set to be written by Ben Chanan, who received acclaim for his drama, Cyberbully, which starred Maisie Williams. Chanan will direct and executive produce the series as well as write it. Filming starts next month.
A premiere date has not been announced but we imagine we’ll see it sometime next year.
