The four-part investigation lands on Friday, 27 October, 2023 

While it has already inspired a television drama, two stage plays and even a movie, events which took place in Brimsdown, Enfield between 1977 and 1979 continue to fascinate. The haunting of an everyday family dominated headlines across the UK, having a tremendous impact on an entire generation of children.

Now, Apple TV+ have announced a new documentary series on the subject. Combining more than 250 hours of rare audio archive, meticulous recreation of the setting of the haunting and original interviews with the people impacted by the case, they bill the series as an “… an ambitious, genre-bending story that explores the human fascination with the unexplained and its impact on those who live it.”

Throughout four episodes, the events are reconstructed using the real recordings captured by Maurice Grosse. The paranormal investigator archived all his interviews with those affected by the phenomenon. Building a replica of the house where the incidents took place, performers re-enact what is heard on the actual tapes, allowing an interplay by the archival voices and appearances of those originally involved in the incident through present-day interviews.

The Enfield Poltergeist comes from MetFilm and Concordia Studio for Apple TV+. The series’ director is Jerry Rothwell. Executive producers are AI Morrow,  Stewart le Maréchal, Davis Guggenheim, Jonathan Silberberg and Nicole Stott.

In related news, the story returns to the West End this winter.

The revived productions stars Catherine Tate and David Threfall. It visits Brighton’s Theatre Royal and the Richmond Theatre in November. Then, settles into a longer run at The Ambassadors Theatre in the West End, concluding in March 2024.
