Babylon 5: The Road Home trailer and date confirmed

The Road Home leads to streaming and home formats for Babylon 5 in mid-August.

It’s been no time at all since the show creator J. Michael Straczynski (JMS) dropped the surprise news of an animated Babylon 5 movie.

The nineties science fiction show, which famously eschewed a monster-of-the-week format for an epic five-year story arc, returns as a feature-length animation. Penned by JMS, Babylon 5: The Road Home includes vocal performances for a number of the original cast, as well as some unfortunately necessary recasting.

Here’s the synopsis for Babylon 5: The Road Home:

“Travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home. Along the way he reunites with some familiar faces, while discovering cosmic new revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.”

Series stars Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins and Patricia Tallman all reprise their original roles. New voice talent will bring us characters such as Delenn, G’Kar, Dr Franklin and Michael Garibaldi, where the original actors have sadly passed away. For more information, check out our previous post.

The two-minute trailer gives us a taste of those other realities, as well as the return of the fan-favourite Zathras. We spotted the Icarus, the ill-fated ship which explored Z’ha’dum, the home planet of the Shadows, and Sheridan seemingly visits the darkest timeline where the allies lost the Shadow War.
