In a gloriously NSFW teaser trailer, we get a sense of what’s to come: lots of blood and gore. And puppets!
It’s been a while since we heard from Gen V, the college aged spinoff set in the world of The Boys. Now, Prime Video have dropped a first-look teaser trailer.
Part of the ever-expanding Voughtverse, the show takes place at Godolkin University – America’s only college exclusively for young adult superheroes. Naturally, this seat of learning is run by Vought International.
This teaser debuted for fans attending CCXP (Comic Con EXperience); the massive Brazilian multi-genre entertainment convention took place in São Paulo over the weekend.
Gen V promises to explore the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s top ranking. The show’s official synopsis describes it as “.. part college show, part Hunger Games – with all the heart, satire, and raunch of The Boys.”
One of the main focuses of this Gen V teaser is Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), who plays the lead role of Marie Moreau. Joining her, the show’s already announced cast includes Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas and Marco Pigossi. This teaser adds Clancy Brown (Billions), Alexander Calvert (Supernatural) and Jason Ritter to the ensemble.
Familiar Faces
As well as a new generation of Supes, we can look forward to familiar faces from the main show too; we spotted Colby Minifie’s Ashley Barratt, movie director Adam Bourke (P.J. Byrne) and Jessie T. Usher (A-Train). Plus, a golden statue of Homelander in the college grounds too.
We’re sure Prime Video will follow this Gen V teaser with a full trailer and start date soon. The show is expected to land sometime in the first half of 2023.
We’ll keep you posted.
