Syfy’s Superman prequel series Krypton is finally confirmed to be coming to the UK. E4 has picked up the transmission rights for British television, although it hasn’t as of yet earmarked a debut date for it. The show is already up and running in the US, to mixed reviews.

Syfy has shared a new teaser trailer for Krypton, its upcoming series that will explore the politics and dramas of Superman’s homeworld, years prior to the Man Of Steel’s birth and the destruction of the planet.

Unlike Gotham, Fox’s Batman prequel that assembled a whole new creative team, Krypton has carried over some talent from the movie world. Although Krypton is set in its own separate continuity, the show was developed by David S. Goyer, who previously penned the screenplay for the cinematic Superman origin story Man Of Steel. (Goyer also worked on the DC Entertainment films Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.)

Cameron Cuffe stars in Krypton as Seg-El, Superman’s grandfather, who finds his family ostracised from Kryptonian society. Georgina Campbell plays Lyta Zod, the grandmother of Supes’ notorious enemy General Zod. One of the layers of intrigue in Krypton is the prospect of a romance between Seg-El and Lyta Zod. In this continuity, is it possible that Superman and Zod are related?

Without further ado, here’s the tiny little teaser for Krypton that has just arrived on the web. You’ll notice that the references to Superman are pretty overt…

Also, here’s the latest full trailer, which explains a little more about the show’s story connection to Superman…

Krypton has an American release date of March 21st, 2018. As it stands, no UK broadcast has been announced. We wouldn’t be surprised if a streaming service picked up the British rights, though.
