Set and filmed in Liverpool, Unforgivable centres around the Mitchell family who are dealing with the devastating aftermath of an act of abuse perpetrated by a member of their own family.
The BBC has released first-look pictures from its forthcoming drama series Unforgivable.
The series, from writer Jimmy McGovern (Time), explores the impact of grooming and sexual abuse on one family. The drama examines the extensive ripple effect of abuse from multiple perspectives and how those involved can try to move forwards in the midst of the devastation.

The pictures reveal the headline cast of Anna Friel (Marcella) as Anna, Bobby Schofield (SAS Rogue Heroes) as Joe, and Anna Maxwell Martin (Ludwig) as Katherine.

They’re joined by David Threlfall (Nightsleeper) as Brian, and Austin Haynes (Adolescence) as Tom.

Unforgivable‘s wider cast includes Mark Womack (The Responder), Paddy Rowan (This Town) and Phina Oruche (Magpie Murders). Plus, Fin McParland who makes his television debut.

Directed by Julia Ford (Showtrial), Unforgivable comes from LA Productions for BBC iPlayer and BBC Two. The series will air later this year – we’ll keep you posted.
