Landing in early 2022, the first series of The Responder was a sizable hit for the BBC.
Martin Freeman led the show, with a Liverpudlian accent, as it provided a tough look at look at the world of British policing. It scored a swift recommission.
Now, that second series is ready to go, with a five-part run which begins on May 5th.
However, the show is playing its cards close to its chest, only saying…
Martin Freeman stars as an urgent response officer trying to stay on the straight and narrow. But when he crosses a top drug dealer, he starts to fall back into old ways.
Joining Martin Freeman for series 2, the returning cast are Adelayo Adedayo (Timewasters), MyAnna Buring (The Witcher), Warren Brown (Ten Pound Poms), Josh Finan (The Gentlemen), Emily Fairn (Mary & George), Philip S McGuinness (The Batman), Faye McKeever, Mark Womack and Amaka Okafor.
The show also adds Adam Nagaitis (The Terror), Bernard Hill (Lord of the Rings) and Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth).
Ex-police officer Tony Schumacher writes The Responder, which comes from Fremantle’s Dancing Ledge Productions. The directors are Jeanette Nordahl, Mounia Akl and Charlotte Regan, the producer is Barrington Robinson. The executive producers are Chris Carey and Toby Bruce for Dancing Ledge productions and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC.
The Responder returns to BBC One and iPlayer on May 5th, 2024. You can catch the first series on BBC iPlayer.
