ITV has released details (and a trailer) for Unforgotten series 4

We’ve been fans of Unforgotten ever since series 1, and welcomed news of its return for Unforgotten series 4. With the inevitable delays due to the pandemic, the show makes its welcome return on Monday February 22.

If you cast your mind back to the end of series 3, Nicola Walker’s DCI Cassie Stewart had reached breaking point and was looking to take early retirement. Of course it’s never that simple and she’s back with Sanjeev Bhaskar’s DI Sunny Khan. The reason? She isn’t entitled to her full pension payment unless she completes her thirty years of service. Angry with her superiors and the system, Cassie has to make the gut-wrenching decision to return to work. Whilst her relationship with John (Alastair Mackenzie) is going strong, she also faces difficult times with both her son, who has moved back home, and her father, Martin (Peter Egan), who is struggling with early dementia.

Unforgotten series 4 opens with the discovery of a dismembered body in a scrap metal yard, which the team believe has been stored in a domestic freezer for thirty years. A unique Millwall Football Club tattoo leads to the victim being identified as Matthew Walsh, a young man in his mid-twenties who went missing in March 1990. The team quickly track the purchase of the freezer to Robert Fogerty, but they are disappointed to learn he’s recently died a lonely, broken man.

On looking further into his past, they discover a drink driving conviction on the same night their victim, Matthew Walsh, went missing, and intriguingly there were four passengers in the car with him at the time….

The cast for the latest series includes: Sheila Hancock, Susan Lynch, Phaldut Sharma, Liz White, Andy Nyman, Clare Calbraith and Lucy Speed.

You can watch the trailer now and catch Unforgotten series 4 on ITV at 9pm on the 2 February and on the ITV Hub.
