The tech satire Upload returns to resolve that killer cliffhanger, but are Nathan’s problems more than just a nosebleed?

The comedy, from Greg Daniels (The Office), continues to explore the morally complex world of digital afterlives, as well as delivering plenty of satire about modern technology too.
The season 3 trailer offers some happiness for Nathan, united in the real world with Nora thanks to his new fleshy form. However, there’s another Nathan in play too, thanks to a digital copy restored by ex-girlfriend Ingrid from a Lakeview backup, so it looks as though we’re up for a complex love triangle (quandrangle?) which might probe the concept of intellectual property.
On top of that, there’s a whole conspiracy to deal with, as well as the challenge of developing AI rights…
The eight-episode Upload Season 3 begins with a double-premiere on Friday, October 20th. Further double-episodes drops occur on the following three Fridays.

Upload Season 3 – Prime confirms premiere, releases first images
Here at CultBox, we were thrilled when news landed of Upload‘s commission for a third season.
The sci-fi comedy, from Greg Daniels (The Office) takes place in a technologically advanced future. It’s a world of holographic phones, self-driving vehicles, AI assistance and 3D food printers.
And, for those how can afford it, death isn’t the bar it once was. You can be “uploaded” to a virtual reality afterlife and enjoy all the comforts of a world-class resort.
The story follows the story of Nathan (Robbie Amell) who dies and is uploaded by his girlfriend. Loaded with lots of glorious tech satire, we have seen Nathan’s realise that his death wasn’t an unfortunate accident. He’s uncovered a conspiracy – and also fallen for his customer service “angel” Nora (Andy Allo).
The show ended its second series on a massive cliffhanger, with Nathan’s consciousness returned to flesh and bone… and just a slight possibility that his head might explode!

In Upload Season Three, we pick back up with Nora and freshly downloaded Nathan as they navigate their relationship, while racing to stop the mysterious conspiracy that threatens to destroy millions of lives. Can they shut down Freeyond, and finally have a real life together? Or is it just a matter of time until Nathan’s head explodes?
Meanwhile, in Lakeview, a backup copy of Nathan has been activated and Ingrid’s not about to let this second chance at love slip away.
Back in the real world, Aleesha rises through the ranks of Horizen by managing AI education, and falls into a new romantic relationship.
And Luke, all alone in Lakeview, is forced to come up with the funds to pay for his stay in paradise, driving him to work in The Grey Zone.
Upload stars Robbie Amell and Andy Allo, with Kevin Bigley, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, Andrea Rosen and Owen Daniels. Jeanine Mason (Roswell, New Mexico) joins the cast for season 3. The show was created by Greg Daniels, who serves as executive producer along with Howard Klein.
Upload Season 3 arrives on Friday, October 20th. The season consists of eight episodes, released two-per-week.
