Peter Capaldi’s The Thick of It co-star Chris Addison has been confirmed as a guest star in the new series of Doctor Who.
The comedian will appear in Series 8’s finale episodes, ‘Dark Water’ and ‘Death In Heaven’.
Addison told Radio Times: “‘Would you like to be in Doctor Who?’ is the easiest question I’ve ever been asked. It’s a 35-year dream come true. Seven-year old me would be going off his nut and I’m not far behind.”
He added: “It’s a great way to spend a couple of weeks, working with people I’ve always wanted to work with on a show I’ve loved all my life. My bucket list is quite a lot shorter now.”
Addison and Capaldi starred in four series of BBC Two’s political comedy The Thick of It between 2005 and 2012.
The show’s creator, writer Armando Iannucci, revealed last year that he’d love to write an episode of Doctor Who for Capaldi’s Doctor: “…I love sci-fi and I grew up with Doctor Who as well.”
Series 8 begins on Saturday 23 August on BBC One with ‘Deep Breath’.
