Game Of Thrones: Emilia Clarke’s last scene as Daenerys ‘f**ked her up’

Emilia Clarke has revealed that her final scene as Daenerys Targaryen, for Game Of Thrones season 8, “f**ked her up”. Clarke has been playing Dany in HBO’s fantasy mega-hit since its first season aired in 2011. The show will wrap up next year, and, understandably, it sounds like emotions ran high on the set.

“It f**ked me up,” Clarke admitted in a new interview, referring to her final scene as Dany, which she has already shot. “Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavour in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…”

Being very well press trained, Clarke let that thought hang in the air rather than elaborating on what her final scene consisted of or how fans might interpret it. Many wish for Dany to win back The Seven Kingdoms for House Targaryen and ‘break the wheel’ of Westeros’ quarrelling factions, but it remains to be seen if The Mother Of Dragons will be successful in her quest.

Elsewhere in the interview, the topic of Clarke’s own ‘goofy’ sense of humour – and how it has at times seeped into Thrones – came up in conversation. Clarke wouldn’t reveal whether she has any funny moments in season 8, but she did say this: “I’m doing all this weird shit. You’ll know what I mean when you see it.”

Game Of Thrones season 8 will be its last season, and it will run for six episodes in 2019. In the meantime, Clarke can be seen in cinemas right now, as Qi’ra in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
