‘Sherlock’ composers join ITV’s new ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ drama

David Arnold has revealed that he and Sherlock collaborator Michael Price will be composing the music for ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde.

Created by The Fast Show writer Charlie Higson and inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the new ten-part fantasy drama is set in 1930s London.

The cast includes Tom Bateman (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor, alongside Richard E Grant (Downton Abbey) and Natalie Gumede (Doctor Who).

David Arnold, who has scored all three seasons of Sherlock with Michael Price, tweeted today:

Arnold has also composed the music for five James Bond movies.

Jekyll and Hyde star Enzo Cilenti told CultBox recently the show will be “very chic, very funny” and has “loads of action”.

The official synopsis reads: “At the heart of the drama is Robert Jekyll’s quest to discover his real identity, his true family history and the nature of his ‘curse’. Jekyll transforms into Hyde in moments of extreme anger, stress and when his or the lives of others are threatened.”

Jekyll and Hyde begins on ITV this autumn.
