It remains one of the most disappointing decisions of recent times, when BBC Three opted not to give Dominic Mitchell’s terrific In The Flesh a third series order.
The supernatural drama, that won a BAFTA, was caught in the midst of changing times at the channel, and eventually, the BBC pulled the plug on the show. Fan enthusiasm hasn’t dimmed though, to the point where many have wondered whether a crowdfunding appeal would raise the money for a third series run.
This was put to Dominic Mitchell on Twitter again, though, and he’s ruled it out as an option. “Thank you v much for your enthusiasm”, he wrote. “#InTheFlesh fans have done so much I’d feel bad asking for their money”.
Mitchell has always suggested that he has a lot more story to tell in this world. But unless a studio or production company stumps up, those stories won’t be on the screen.
