The hugely acclaimed adaptation of John Le Carre’s The Night Manager proved to be one of the television treats of 2016. Headlined by Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman, the spy thriller won awards, huge ratings, and instant talk of a further series.
All indications were that more The Night Manager was on the way, even though there’s no obvious source novel to lean on (the first series used up the story from Le Carre’s novel). But that’s no deterrent. For now we learn that Matthew Orton has been hired to pen new episodes for the BBC and AMC co-production.
Tom Hiddleston is expected to return for the new series of the show, but don’t expect it soon. Even if Orton turns around the scripts quickly, it’s still unlikely to head to production until the back half of next year.
We will keep you posted, of course.
