We take a look at Doctor Who‘s Top 6 dads…

Alex in ‘Night Terrors’ (2011)

Doctor Who Night Terrors Danny Mays

While some father’s might have balked at the fact that their only son was in fact an alien cuckoo, Alex – the human father of George the Tenza – refused to let a little thing like biology get in the way.

His unconditional love for his son was enough to save the day and allow George to be released from the grip of his fears.

Craig Owens (‘The Lodger’, ‘Closing Time’)

Doctor Who Craig Closing Time James Corden

Thanks to some crafty matchmaking by the Doctor in 2010’s ‘The Lodger’, Craig (James Corden) and Sophie (Daisy Haggard) have moved on from their life of “pizza, booze, telly” and have become parents to baby Alfie when the Time Lord returns in 2011’s ‘Closing Time’.

When Craig and the Doctor find themselves dragged into fending off Cybermen in a local department store, the nervous parent overcomes his uncertainties about being a good father and prevents his own Cyber-conversion by focusing on his love for son Alfie – or “Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All”, as the young tot prefers to be known.

Honourable mention: Wilfred Mott (2007–2010)

Doctor Who Wilf End of Time

Initially cast as a Christmas bit part in ‘Voyage of the Damned’, Bernard Cribbins took on the role of Donna’s grandfather Wilf for 2008’s Season 4 when Howard Attfield, who had played Donna’s father in ‘The Runaway Bride’, sadly died.

Becoming a fan favourite, Wilf even returned as the Doctor’s companion in ‘The End of Time’. Creating an interesting dynamic with the Tenth Doctor, this humble hero took on a paternal role and it was his life that the Doctor saved at the expense of his tenth body.
