American television is fond of its reboots at the moment, with perhaps the most bizarre example being the announcement of a Teen Wolf TV reboot before the current (successful) Teen Wolf TV reboot had even come to the end of its run.
Well, you can add one more to the queue now, with the news that CBS is developing a new take on Magnum P.I.
The original starred Tom Selleck and his moustache of course, running from 1980 through to 1988. CBS has ordered a pilot of the new series from Peter Lenkov, who has already successfully rebooted shows such as MacGyver and Hawaii Five-O on US TV.
There’s also, separately, a Magnum PI sequel series in the works at another US network, ABC. That one will focus on the daughter of the original Magnum character.
Tom Selleck is not believed to be involved in either show.
