The first Citadel spin-off is the Italian series Citadel: Diana starring Matilda De Angelis.
Updated 03/10/24: A further teaser action-packed teaser.
With just a week to go, Prime Video have dropped a two-minute extract from the long-awaited Citadel: Diana.
The preview clip, set at Scilly’s Cretto di Gibellina, sees Diana tracking down a target who flees in spectacular fashion…
The clip debuted at the recent Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers event, where star Matilda De Angelis sat down alongside Bryce Dallas Howard (Deep Cover) and Maria Sten (Reacher) to discuss the reinvention of the action genre and the importance of the action heroine.
De Angelis said:
“I went through four months of training, I wanted to be able to do most of my stunts. I have a past as a gymnast, so when I had the chance to do something that felt natural to me, I did. We don’t get the chance as much in Italy, as an Italian actress, to perform action and to be a part of something this big and challenging. I really saw it as an opportunity of growth for myself. I wanted to kick ass, so I did it – Italian style!”
Citadel: Diana drops all six episodes on October 10th, 2024.
Updated 12/09/24: Full trailer lands.
With the show’s debut less than a month away, Prime Video have released a full trailer for Citadel: Diana.
Set in Milan 2030, this is the first spin-off in the Citadel spyverse. It’s led by Matilda De Angelis as the titular Diana, an undercover agent trapped behind enemy lines.
Based on the trailer, De Angelis goes through the wringer in the all-action show, with car chases, gun battles and the odd explosion or two. Plus, a natty asymmetric haircut – doubtless all the rage in six years time!
The show premieres on October 10th, 2024, running across six episodes.
Then, the gloriously titled Citadel: Honey Bunny, follows close behind on November 7th.

Citadel: Diana – Prime Video drops teaser & date
Last year, Prime Video’s glossy spy series Citadel landed on our screens.
Fronted by Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, it provided high-octane thrills and spills with the tale of a secret organisation whose former agents needed reawakening.
At the time, we understood that this was the first salvo of an expansive (and expensive) international franchise. Indeed, the first teaser for Citadel: Diana dropped as the main series ended.
Now, the 6-part Italian set show has a premiere on 10th October 2024.
Here’s the synopsis for Citadel: Diana
Milan, 2030: Eight years ago, the independent global spy agency Citadel was destroyed by the powerful enemy syndicate, Manticore. Since then, Diana Cavalieri (Matilda De Angelis), an undercover Citadel agent, is alone, trapped behind enemy lines as a mole in Manticore. When she finally sees a way out and the chance to disappear forever, the only way to do so is trusting the most unexpected ally, Edo Zani (Lorenzo Cervasio), the heir of Manticore Italy and son of the head of the Italian organization, Ettore Zani (Maurizio Lombardi), who’s vying for leadership against the other European families.
Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing) fronts the show. She’s joined by an internation cast which includes Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, Thekla Reuten, Giordana Faggiano, Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz and Filippo Nigro.
Citadel: Diana comes from Alessandro Fabbri, who wrote the series with Ilaria Bernardini, Gianluca Bernardini, Laura Colella and Giordana Mari. The director is Arnaldo Catinari.
The Citadel Spyverse
Following Citadel: Diana, the franchise continues with an Indian series Citadel: Honey Bunny – yes it’s really called that. Plus, there’s a second series of the main show in the works.
We’ll keep you posted on all things Citadel.
