In some surprising news, it’s expected that the BBC will be remaking lost episodes of Dad’s Army with a new cast later this year…
The classic sitcom has three episodes from its second series currently missing, believe to be wiped as a result of the BBC’s videotape wiping policy. An audio recording of one episode was found in 2008 and animated in 2016 but currently two full episodes remain completely lost.
British Comedy Guide is reporting that efforts are underway by the BBC to remake the lost episodes. Ben Kellett, director of – uh – Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie is set to direct the new episodes but otherwise little information is known about the project.
A 2016 film tried to breathe new life into the series and cast Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon, Blake Harrison and Tom Courtenay in the series’ main roles but it’s currently unknown who will take over in the new remade episodes.
We’ll continue to pass on more information about this project as and when we get it.
