Bradley Walsh is the surprise frontrunner to be the new Doctor Who companion…
With Jodie Whittaker set to take over the TARDIS come the end of the Doctor Who Christmas special this December, we finally bid a sad farewell to Peter Capaldi. Capaldi will depart at the end of Twice Upon A Time, which is also set to see Pearl Mackie leave the show as the Doctor’s companion after just one series.
That, inevitably, has left an opening for Jodie Whittaker’s new companion. And tabloid rumour this morning suggests that Bradley Walsh has landed the job.
Walsh, once of Coronation Street and now host of The Chase, has worked with new Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall before, on Law & Order UK. Now though, The Mirror’s sources reckon he’s landed the Who role, which in turn will reduce the number of shows he’ll make for ITV. The report suggests he’ll continue with The Chase, though.
The BBC hasn’t confirmed or denied the news, as you might expect at this stage.
