In the latest episode of The Whoniverse Show, host Tia Kofi asked Camille Coduri how her Doctor Who character Jackie Tyler would react to seeing the Doctor in the form of her daughter, Rose Tyler (Billie Piper).

“I screamed. I was watching at home and I absolutely… It was a fantastic bit of television, wasn’t it?,” Coduri said of watching the Fifteenth Doctor regenerate into the form of Billie Piper in the cliffhanger at the end of the Doctor Who Season 2 finale The Reality War. Just who Piper will portray is part of the mystery.

“Well, I mean, there’d be an expletive, probably, but if there wasn’t, it would probably be, ‘Oh my actual — oh my actual god!'”
“I think also she’d be furious and confused. And what does that mean? ‘No, you’re not the Doctor. You can’t be! Well, you’re a girl. Or are you?’ I think she’d be thinking about herself. She’s quite selfish, quite self-centred. She’d be going, ‘Where does that leave me? Well, I’m not coming with you. All right, I will come with you.’ But, of all that, you know, I mean, if there was any upset or she was really, truly worried, she would keep it all inside, wouldn’t she? Maybe share with her neighbours.”

What hilarious encounter that would be! We’d all love to see Jackie Tyler again. But could that happen? Anything can happen in a show were an alien travels through time, space and universes in a ship disguised as a 1960s police box.
Rose and Jackie Tyler were forced to escape escape to an alternate parallel universe apart from the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) with no apparent way to return to their Earth. Last heard of, they were there with Rose’s father and Jackie’s husband Pete Tyler (Shaun Dingwall), Rose’s young brother Tony and a human version of the Tenth Doctor.

A The regeneration cliffhanger will be addressed in the 2026 Doctor Who Christmas special, produced by Bad Wolf and penned by showrunner Russell T. Davies. It is expected to go into production in some time in 2026.
