Ahead of the Doctor Who 60th anniversary celebrations, the jaw-dropping scene where the Thirteenth Doctor regenerates into the Fourteenth Doctor in front of the TARDIS on top of Durdle Door was voted by the public as the ‘TV Moment of the Year’ and awarded at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
The scene from the Doctor Who BBC centenary special The Power of the Doctor, superbly acted by Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant, was directed by Jamie Magnus Stone and Rachel Talalay. The two directors filmed both parts of the regeneration with each actor in front of a green screen in two separate studios.
Former Tenth Doctor actor David Tennant emerges from the regeneration as the Fourteenth Doctor sporting a familiar face and ready to star in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials.
Doctor Who will return in November 2023 with three 60th anniversary specials starring David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as companion Donna Noble titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle.
