On CBS Good Morning America 25 March, Ncuti Gatwa and Varda Sethu teased the upcoming Doctor Who Season Two.

“Whovians will love this season,” assured Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the Fifteenth Doctor. “There are so many Easter eggs for them.”

“The best reveal!,” Varada Sethu added.

“The best reveal,” Ncuti Gatwa agreed. “The Doctor is facing the greatest trouble he’s ever faced before.”

Ncuti Gatwa described Varada Sethu’s casting as companion Belinda Chandra as “So exciting.”

“So happy to be back and working with this one again,” Sethu spoke of Gatwa.

“So much fun and Varda just brings the best energy to the set and the show,” Gatwa laughed.

“I could say the same about you,” Sethu replied.

“And Belinda as well, as a character, is,” Gatwa added. “We’ve not had a companion that challenges the Doctor as much as Belinda does.”

In a separate backstage solo interview, Ncuti Gatwa spoke on the symbolism of his casting as an identifiable UK icon.

“This role, specifically, on this show that means do much to the UK and to the world, you’ve got like Doctor Who, the Queen, James Bond, Mr Bean. There’s a few things that are so like identifiably British and Doctor Who is one of them. And as a black man and as an immigrant, it feels quite symbolic to take on this role. I don’t know. I think it’s just quite symbolic as to where we are in society.”

Doctor Who Season Two will officially launch with The Robot Revolution on Saturday 12 April at 8am on BBC iPlayer and later that day on BBC One in the UK. Those outside of the UK can watch Doctor Who Season Two on Disney+ where available simultaneously starting at 3am ET/12am PT. The remaining seven episodes of the series will transmit on subsequent Saturdays.
