As of now, the only writer we know of so far who’s penned scripts for Doctor Who series 11 is the new showrunner, Chris Chibnall.
Chibnall is expected to write the opening episode, for a start, as well as several others across the run. But the identities of the other writers is being kept under wraps. We know that Sarah Dollard, Mark Gatiss and Jamie Mathieson, from the series 10 line-up, aren’t back for the new series, though.
In terms of who will be on board? Piers Wenger, the current boss of BBC drama, has now said – as per a Tweet from Broadcast web editor Robin Parker – that “a number” of the scripts for the new Doctor Who have been written by women.
The Tweet quotes Wenger as saying “having a diverse team on that show feels appropriate, important and essential”.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, and get the names of those involves.
Here’s that Tweet…
