Doctor Who will return for the upcoming festive season in a special episode entitled Revolution of the Daleks.
The special will follow the cliffhanger with the Doctor imprisoned for life in a maximum security facility by the Judoon Cold Case Unit for being a fugitive from the law in the Series 12 finale episode The Timeless Children.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall said:
“We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did. But rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!). There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”
Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole will all return for the special.
Scenes from Revolution of the Daleks were filmed on location in October at Lumis Student Living in Cardiff, on October 2 and October 9. Various locations in Cardiff were used on the evening of October 29 into the morning of October 30 in Cardiff.
Daleks were photographed during location filming of Revolution of the Daleks at Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol on the evening of October 22 into the morning of October 23.
