New movie Everest to star Ewan McGregor, Sam Heughan and Mark Strong
Thanks to KFTV, we can bring you details of Everest, which is due to film in January 2022.
The central cast of McGregor, Heughan and Strong are all very much in demand with Obi Wan Kenobi, Outlander and numerous films, including the recent Cruella. This should all make for a healthy audience interest when the film is released.
McGregor is playing George Mallory, who took part in three British expeditions to climb the mountain starting in 1921. He is recruited for the task by Arthur Hinks (Strong) of the Royal Geographic Society. Heughan plays Mallory’s rival, the Australian George Finch.
Written by Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air), it is inspired by the Jeffrey Archer novel Paths of Glory. The project is a long standing interest of Doug Liman who produces alongside Jennifer Klein (Pearl Harbour, Armageddon). Liman has had this project in mind for at least a decade, with Tom Hardy once tipped to play Mallory.
We don’t expect this to be released until later 2022 or 2023, and it’s not yet clear if it will be a film or a limited series. We’ll keep you up to date as we learn more.
