Ginny & Georgia is new in and the most streamed (US) show in the latest Nielsens. As ever we go behind the headline figures…
We’ve taken the data from Nielsen for the week of 21-28 February 2021 and processed it via our array of cloud farms and applied our multi-variate algorithms to look at the story behind the story. It’s great news for Ginny & Georgia, but figures are mostly lower than they have been. A few familiar shows have dropped out as well.

If you look at headline data, it’s good news for WandaVision now up to number 2 (and as we predicted last week, it’s a rise) and also better than last week’s lead show Behind Her Eyes. The Crown has left the charts and Bridgerton is still hanging on in. Let’s look closer…
What is Ginny & Georgia
Before we dive in, in case you didn’t know, this week’s Nielsen lead is about:
Angsty and awkward fifteen year old Ginny Miller often feels more mature than her thirty year old mother, the irresistible and dynamic Georgia Miller. After years on the run, Georgia desperately wants to put down roots in picturesque New England and give her family something they’ve never had… a normal life. But it’s not all carpool and Kombucha as Georgia’s past threatens her and her family’s new way of life… and Georgia will do anything to protect her family.
It stars Antonia Gentry as Ginny Miller, Brianne Howey (Batwoman) as Georgia Miller, Nikki Roumel as teenage Georgia Miller and Diesel La Torraca as Austin Miller.
How many season watches?
Our number is just an estimate, but it is clear the top shows are less watched this week than the previous. If we ordered on our season watch, then WandaVision is the clear winner. There are several shows with ratings in the over 600,000 bracket, and some ‘other’ shows, which in our view includes Longmire and Back Off.
We still expect WandaVision to challenge for top spot at some point, and again wonder about tracking genre. We also note new entrant Age of Samurai looks like an interesting documentary!
We also suspect our model needs a better approach to multi-series figures. If a new season drops, we suspect most people watch that, and fewer people are watching older episodes. This means we are underestimating the viewer count for shows with a legacy of episodes stretching back years (eg Bake Off). Expect a new model soon!
