The Falcon And The Winter Soldier will be the first MCU spinoff series to hit Disney+…
Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes will be back in action on Disney+ later this year alongside their old nemesis, Zemo (Daniel Bruhl). They’re all reprising their MCU roles for the streaming service’s spinoff show, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.
During the Super Bowl last night, Marvel premiered the first footage from the series, which you can see below…
Stan recently to ET Canada about shooting the series, and breathing new life into the Winter Soldier and Falcon in a post-Endgame universe.
“We’re getting to do things with these characters that we just never had an opportunity to, I mean we’re taking them in such different, new waters,” he said. “We’re having a lot of fun, there’s no way to not have fun with Anthony [Mackie]. You know, sometimes I really would love to kill him [laughs], but other than that, if one of us doesn’t manage to kill the other by the end of the show, we’re good.”
John Wick creator Derek Kolstad is working behind the scenes on the series. It’s not clear yet how big Kolstad’s contributions to The Falcon And The Winter Soldierwill be, but Malcolm Spellman is the key showrunner. His previous credits include Empire, Our Family Wedding and the Sopranos video game, Road To Respect.
One other thing we know is that Kevin Feige – the head honcho of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is onboard as a producer. This is a big deal, since he didn’t have hands-on involvement in the creation of the Marvel/Netflix universe that began with Daredevil.
As we hear more about the Bucky/Falcon series, we’ll be sure to keep you posted. The show is expected to arrive in autumn 2020.
