Derk Kolstad, writer of John Wick, has signed up for some sort of role on the Falcon And Winter Soldier series from Disney+. Here’s everything we know..
The Wrap broke the news and Collider has confirmed it, so it now seems official that Kolstad has joined the production. His last feature was John Wick: Chapter 3, and he also has three other TV projects on his dance card at the moment: The Continental, Just Cause and Hitman.
It’s not clear yet how big Kolstad’s contributions to Falcon And Winter Soldier will be. Collider notes that the show has a writer’s room, so Kolstad is presumably one of many people working on the show.
Variety previously reported that Malcolm Spellman has been hired by Marvel/Disney to pen the series. His previous credits include Empire, Our Family Wedding and the Sopranos video game Road To Respect.
Anthony Mackie will reprise the role of Sam Wilson (aka Falcon) while Sebastian Stan comes back to playing Bucky Barnes (aka The Winter Soldier). It seems safe to assume that the show will pick up from the final couple of scenes of Avengers: Endgame, which left these characters in an interesting position.
One other thing we know is that Kevin Feige – the head honcho of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is on board as a producer. This is a big deal, since he didn’t have hands-on involvement in the creation of the Marvel/Netflix universe that began with Daredevil.
As we hear more about the Bucky/Falcon series, and Disney’s streaming service plans in general, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
