David Tennant has been earning fine reviews for his return to Jessica Jones for its second season of late, and he’s also got a role in the upcoming movie Bad Samaritan (that arrives in cinemas this summer). But the one-time Doctor Who star has also now revealed that had fate taken a different turn, he could have played Hannibal Lecter in the TV show Hannibal.
In a new interview, he’s revealed he was in the running for the role. “I met Bryan Fuller a couple of times, and we talked about it”, he told Entertainment Weekly. Fuller, of course, being the executive producer and showrunner of Hannibal
“But I think they quite wisely chose Mads Mikkelsen, I think he was a perfect choice for it, and I think he did things with that character that I wouldn’t have managed, so I think the right man got the job”.

Hannibal was ultimately cancelled after three seasons.
